Total restoration of this working windmill included massive amounts of ironstone replacement;
complete repointing in lime mortar and the provision of new sails and fantail. The windmill originally
lost its sails in a gale early in the 20th century, and remained unused until the 1990's.
Following restoration, the mill produced flour using electric motors until the first pair of sails were
reinstated in 2003. The second pair of sails should be installed early in 2005, dependent entirely on
revenue raised through traditional flour production and a substantial grant from English Heritage.
